The Bendix 10-682555-15 Lycoming Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 is a high-performance, reliable aviation electrical ignition system designed specifically for use with Lycoming engines. This magneto system is a critical component of the engine ignition system, providing spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture in the cylinders.
The Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 is a compact and lightweight design, making it ideal for use in general aviation aircraft. It is constructed from high-quality materials, ensuring durability and longevity in the demanding aviation environment. The magnetos are mounted on a rugged, vibration-resistant housing that is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of flight.
Each magneto is equipped with a high-voltage, low-time ignition system that delivers strong, dependable sparks to the engine's spark plugs. The ignition system is capable of producing up to 3000 RPM of ignition energy, making it suitable for a wide range of Lycoming engines.
The D4LN-3000 magnetos feature a self-diagnostic system that can detect and indicate various fault conditions. This feature helps to ensure that any issues with the ignition system are identified and addressed before they can potentially cause engine damage or lead to safety concerns.
The magnetos are also equipped with a built-in vacuum pump, which provides vacuum for the engine's carburator and fuel system. This eliminates the need for a separate vacuum pump, reducing the overall weight and complexity of the aircraft's electrical system.
The Bendix 10-682555-15 Lycoming Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 is a crucial component for any Lycoming engine-powered aircraft. Its high-performance ignition system, rugged construction, and self-diagnostic capabilities make it a reliable and effective choice for pilots and aircraft owners who demand the best from their aviation equipment. Whether you are flying for business, pleasure, or training, the D4LN-3000 magnetos will help ensure that your engine starts easily and runs smoothly, providing you with the confidence and safety you need to enjoy your flying experience.
The Bendix 10-682555-15 Lycoming Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 is a popular choice for aircraft owners looking to upgrade their ignition systems. This magneto offers several advantages over older models, but it also comes with some considerations. In this analysis, we will discuss the pros and cons of investing in this particular magneto.
Pros:1. Improved Performance: The D4LN-3000 produces more spark energy than its predecessors, resulting in better combustion efficiency and improved engine performance. This can lead to increased power output and better fuel economy.
2. Enhanced Safety: The magneto features a built-in safety interlock system that prevents the engine from starting if the propeller is not properly feathered or the cowling is not properly secured. This can reduce the risk of accidents caused by incorrectly started engines.
3. Longer Lifespan: The D4LN-3000 is designed with a more robust construction, including longer-lasting components such as the ignition coils and brushes. This can result in fewer maintenance requirements and longer time between overhauls.
4. Reduced Maintenance: The magneto's electronic ignition system eliminates the need for traditional spark plugs, resulting in less frequent maintenance tasks. Additionally, the magneto's self-diagnostic capabilities can help identify potential issues before they become major problems.
Cons:1. Higher Cost: The D4LN-3000 is more expensive than many other magnetos on the market. This higher cost may be a barrier for some aircraft owners, particularly those operating on a tight budget.
2. Complex Installation: Installing the D4LN-3000 can be a more complex process than installing a traditional magneto. This may require additional labor costs and time.
3. Electrical System Requirements: The magneto's electronic ignition system requires a consistent and reliable electrical power source. This may necessitate upgrades to the aircraft's electrical system, which can add to the overall cost of the project.
Conclusion:The Bendix 10-682555-15 Lycoming Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 offers several advantages over traditional magnetos, including improved performance, enhanced safety, longer lifespan, and reduced maintenance. However, these advantages come with a higher cost and a more complex installation process. Ultimately, whether this magneto is a worthwhile investment depends on an individual's specific needs, budget, and aircraft configuration. For those who prioritize performance, safety, and ease of maintenance, the D4LN-3000 may be an excellent choice. For others, the higher cost and installation complexities may outweigh the benefits.
Recommendation:If you are an aircraft owner looking for a high-performance, reliable, and easy-to-maintain ignition system, the Bendix 10-682555-15 Lycoming Dual Magneto D4LN-3000 could be an excellent investment. However, carefully consider the higher cost and installation complexities before making a decision. It's also important to ensure your aircraft's electrical system can support the magneto's requirements. Consult with a certified aviation mechanic or electrical specialist to determine if this magneto is the right choice for your aircraft.
Buying core as is. This is a core and will need some attention. Distributor Block is not damaged, it a late polyester TCM. Has A late snap ring cam on it.
The magneto is complete and appears to be in good shape. It says its a 3000 series housing but I am selling this as 2000 so buying is. This has a TCM ID plate on it but I don't believe. This is Bendix dual magneto.
My concern is I think it an early 2000 series housing, due to coil screws coming through the bottom.
