Start the aircraft and you are now voltage control circuit. Tool was designed by Howard libbers, a master aircraft mechanic and friend. If alt gen now changes, the problem is in field circuit. I have used this tester for years trouble shooting charging systems.

Basically, you disconnect the field wire at alt gen and connect yellow. I retired last year and am selling tools.
